Changing the window placement in Ubuntu

To see the current setting:
dconf read /org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/place/mode

To update the setting:
dconf write /org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/place/mode 1

(Try different values to understand the behavior.)
